OpenPeppol SML insourcing

OpenPeppol is currently undertaking the insourcing of the Service Metadata Locator (SML). As part of this initiative, all existing registrations will be migrated from the current SML operated by the European Commission (EC) to the new OpenPeppol-managed SML, which will be hosted by NetCompany (NC) for the Peppol network.

Latest Update

As of 18 March 2026, OpenPeppol has published the latest update regarding the SML insourcing migration timeline.

Migration Start

• The migration window opens on 19 March 2026

 

Updated Timeline & Flexibility

• AP Lookup (DNS resolution) migration extended until 31 August 2026

• SMP registrations deadline remains 31 May 2026

 

For Oxalis-NG Users

For Oxalis-NG (Oxalis) users, this is straight forward change as only configuration change is required in oxalis.conf file

OpenPeppol T-SML - Test Environment:
lookup.locator.hostname = participant.sml.test.tech.peppol.org

 

OpenPeppol SML - Production Environment:
lookup.locator.hostname = participant.sml.prod.tech.peppol.org
